Man found in vehicle believed to have been fatally shot

 
The Arlington Police Department is investigating the apparent fatal shooting of a man early this morning. Officers responded to an investigation call regarding a deceased man in the 4900 block of Little Road at about 2 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013. A person at the business called 911 to report a man inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers arrived and found a man in the driver's seat of the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound . The window on the driver’s side of the vehicle was shattered.

The victim, who is likely in his 20s or 30s, has not yet been identified. His name and the cause of death will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office once an official identification has been completed and next of kin have been notified.

It is still early in the investigation and detectives are going through all of the evidence at the scene and developing a timeline of what the victim did in the hours and moments leading up to his death.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Arlington Police Detective Seth Archer at (817) 459-5336, or Crime Stoppers at (817) 469-TIPS (8477) to submit an anonymous tip. Through Crime Stoppers, tipsters could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.

There is no indication at this point that this incident is related to any other homicides that have recently occurred in the city.

6/13/2013 Suspect arrested, facing murder charge in fatal shooting
Arlington police officers arrested a suspect today in connection with the fatal shooting of a Kennedale junior high school teacher earlier this week. Based on information and evidence gathered during this investigation, Patrick Jardell Brooks, 27, was arrested this morning at his Arlington home in a coordinated effort between the Arlington Police Department Fugitives, Homicide and Tactical units.

Brooks remains in the Arlington City Jail facing a murder charge in connection with the death of John Shreves, 27. Bail is set at $100,000. A mugshot of the suspect is attached to this release.

Detectives identified Brooks based on cell phone text messages between him and the victim, and video surveillance of the business parking lot where the victim’s vehicle was located. The information gathered and evidence indicates that the suspect was a passenger in the vehicle and arrived at the location with Mr. Shreves.
