Car Audio Recovery (C.A.R.)
Program |
|
C.A.R. is a customer and retailer burglary
prevention program for vehicle audio equipment. The program has
two parts:
Why is the C.A.R. Program So Important?
Marked property is difficult for a burglar to dispose of or
resell. it can be traced to its rightful owner with relative ease.
If the burglar is caught with marked property, it is solid
evidence of possession of stolen goods.
How to Participate in the C.A.R. Program
-
Simply inform a car audio retailer of
your desire to participate. Trained technicians will engrave your
driver's license number on the audio equipment before
installation. (A typical marking will look like this:
TX12345678.)
-
The driver's license number will be
engraved on a surface that cannot be easily removed and will not
be visible after installation.
-
Once your audio equipment is marked,
make a list of the items and keep a copy in a safe place. If you
later become the victim of a vehicle burglary, you'll be able to
quickly describe the item(s). Marked items are of great help to
police, and improve your chances of recovery.
-
After installing the items and
completing the descriptive list, display a C.A.R. sticker
on both the driver and passenger windows of your vehicle. The
stickers inform would-be burglars that your vehicle's audio
equipment has been marked.
